JackinWorld Biography #53

Part One of a two-part series.

I just recently came across JackinWorld and realized that at age 65, I have enjoyed 54 years of "self-abuse" so far. While not keeping count, I suppose I have averaged 3-4 times per week over the years, with no sign of stopping. Wow! That could be well over 10,000 masturbation sessions! For younger JackinWorld visitors the perspective of an older guy might be of interest — particularly, they should know life stays good! My masturbation frequency was higher before I married (5-10 times per week), lower in the early years of marriage (but even then 2-5), and since age 55 it has actually picked up as marital intercourse frequency declined (it's still 3-4). I've been happily married for 41 years now, with a perfectly good sex life; it's just that heterosexual sex is a different, mutual experience, and I like both. While there have been countless disappointing solo episodes, I'd say the greatest orgasms have mostly happened through masturbation, probably (and selfishly) because more factors can be controlled. And for all you young people out there, I'm impressed and jealous at remembering the amounts and distances of ejaculations achieved. The main effect of aging seems to be lower amounts and far shorter ejaculatory power, but — wonder of wonders — orgasm quality has diminished very little. Well, did over 10,000 mostly self-induced orgasms affect my health? I am thinnish but prosperous, in extremely good health, still hiking and mountain climbing. So keep it up! Use it or lose it! (My doctor agrees.)

I guess the main questions are "where and when" and "how." Most guys must learn many ways by experimentation; growing up in a more conservative era I missed out on shared group sessions, where you'd learn fast. Still, although I've seen this site only for a short time, I'm a little surprised by the absence of some pretty obvious and nice techniques, and by the limited locations where people seem to masturbate. As to time of year, I know frequency is higher — maybe quite a bit — in the summer, with more free time, longer days, but especially because it's warmer, so it's more comfortable to be totally naked, and because it's sexier when one's testicles are loose and dangly.

The hand is a great and sensitive instrument (I use both equally), yet I'd say the majority of my less successful orgasms have been such, probably because the occasions are too quick, or even surreptitious. Traditional "fist" masturbation seems easiest when reading or watching some erotic visual material, or even better, given some voyeuristic opportunity. On the other hand, this approach has sometimes been great, if I had the patience to be very slow and deliberate, with almost a whispery stimulation of the penis head, with a gradual buildup to high tension, then a deliberate backing off, then a rebuilding of tension, if possible over and over again, maintaining a maximum erection for at least an hour. It's often hard to find the time, but I have been able to maintain a great erection for at least 2 hours while driving, finally pulling off the road to ejaculate more safely!

Great masturbation for me often involves use of a "prop" (belt, book, stick, shrub branch, edge of a piece of furniture), which exerts pressure and friction simultaneously along the whole penis while adding some pressure on the testcles — a little pain is great (the looser the testicles, the greater the sensations), and all the while freeing the hands for action elsewhere. Smooth or polished wood (or plastic) are the best textures, as they allow the buildup of a rubbing friction which you can actually hear as well as feel. I think the ideal width is one-half inch to one inch, again because of the added pressure on the testicles. Examples: a thin leather belt, while lying on your back, or sitting up (the belt can also wrap around to your butt crack). The best books are large art books, which work well either pressing down while on your back, or with you on your knees over them. (I learned this while working in a library while in college; doing it in the stacks added excitement.) Doors are a little wide; chair legs or coffee-table edges can be fine; for 30 years I've loved a rectangular coffee table turned on its side. A flat or only slightly curved surface is better than a curved one like a pole or broom handle, because of the greater surface for friction. A stick of driftwood, or a shrub branch, is great while out hiking or in the park (it's useful to carry a jackknife to get rid of sharp knots). A live branch, especially willow, is great because it exerts upward pressure. This must be pretty common, because I have seen obvious preparation of such sticks at many campsites over the years, including one I took home and continue to use — although I think my son stole it. I've found that psychologically the excitement is even greater if the performance is in warm, shallow water, as along the edge of a lake one has hiked to. (A risk: mosquitoes.)

Another type, of course, involves something you stick your penis into. There are all kinds of commercial devices, but I've never been brave enough to explore them. Still, man or nature provides opportunities. A great device we all have around the house is the paint roller. At a 1.5" internal diameter they are perfect for me, nicely compressing your penis. A little lubrication may be helpful. After doing work with PVC pipe, I also discovered it is can also be exactly the right dimension. With PVC it's fun to use a segment several feet long, so it can be stabilized, again freeing the hands for massaging oneself.
