I guess I started entering puberty at age 11. That's when I first noticed I was getting hairs on my scrotum. I've heard guys tell how they remember getting their first erection when they were entering puberty, but I don't understand that. I've always gotten erections my entire life, even when I was a small child. I always thought it was just normal for my penis to be hard half the time, and that's just the way it was — no big deal. I was in the 6th grade when I finally realized the connection between sex and a hard penis. One of my friends was explaining to me what a "hard-on" was, saying it was when you get hard from thinking about a naked girl. I had never made a connection between the two before, but at that moment I realized that when I did have those types of thoughts, I inevitably got an erection. The pieces to the puzzle explaining sex took a big leap in my mind on that day.
I was 12 and already had a ton of pubic hair when I started playing with my penis on a semi-regular basis. I had no idea what masturbation was, but whenever I was alone in my bedroom and got an erection, I would end up just feeling it and squeezing it and basically just looking at it, amazed at how big it seemed to get. Also when I was 12, I first started having "wet-dreams." I had learned about them from sex-education class, so it wasn't a huge surprise when it started happening. I never would wake up during a wet-dream, but the next day I would always be able to remember in detail what it was about. Wet-dreams always seem so much more vivid than other dreams.
The first time I ever truly masturbated to ejaculation was about a whole year after I started having wet-dreams. I was 13 and averaging about two wet-dreams per week. A few months earlier while on the school bus, I had heard a boy who was a few years older talk about how he masturbates in the shower. This had stuck in my mind for several months until I finally decided I would try stroking my penis while taking a shower, basically just to see what would happen, if anything. I got into the shower and started stroking my erection. This was the first time I had ever stroked it in this manner. It felt great. In fact, it felt almost too great — it felt so good I would have to stop every 10 seconds or so. After a while I decided to just grab it and stroke without stopping to see what would happen. I began to get this unbelievably amazing feeling throughout my entire body, and suddenly, to my extreme surprise, huge streams of thick white fluid starting shooting out of my penis. It seemed like it just kept coming out and wouldn't stop. By this time I was on my knees in the shower, trying to catch my breath, amazed at how much semen had shot out. At the same time there was this total instance of clarity that explained the entire puzzle I had in my mind about sex.
I finally got out of the shower, went back to my bedroom, got dressed, and just lay down on the bed staring at the ceiling. I was extremely stoked. Most everything suddenly made sense to me, and to top it all off, I felt extremely masculine. But now I think I was more curious about my penis and sex in general than ever before. After about an hour I couldn't take it anymore and had to do it again. I went back into the bathroom, got naked, and looked at myself in the full-length mirror. I started stroking my penis again. It wasn't quite as easy to achieve orgasm this second time, and I was surprised that only about half as much semen came out. Being young and naive I started thinking I had only a certain amount of semen and shouldn't waste it, so I told myself I wouldn't masturbate anymore. There it was: My very first day of masturbating, and I was already deciding to quit. Needless to say, I did it again the very next day, and I ejaculated just as much as the first time, so the limited-supply theory was blown away.
For the next couple of years I would masturbate at least twice a day, and frequently as many as 4 or 5 times. There seems to be this widely held theory that if you masturbate you won't have any wet-dreams, because they say wet-dreams are caused by a buildup of semen that needs to be released. This doesn't seem to hold true in my case. I've had many, many days when I masturbated a couple times during the day or had sex with my girlfriend and I still would have a wet-dream that night. I've also had several occasions when I would wake up at night after having a wet-dream, change into some clean underwear, and go back to sleep and have another wet-dream — all in the same night.
I'm in college now, and although I both masturbate and have sex very frequently, I still average one or two wet-dreams per week. I've had friends sleep over on nights that I've had wet-dreams, and they say I moan in my sleep. I'm not sure if that's true or if they are just joking. But just in case, I never allow myself to fall asleep on airplanes. That could be very embarrassing!
Do you find yourself masturbating more often during some seasons than others? Why?
